Dear Neighbor,

I would like to take this opportunity to announce the beginning of a new chapter in the incredible saga of our fabulous CGGNA.  I would like to introduce to all of you our new President, Toby Rubin.  I have resigned as president because of an extremely busy schedule, especially with my business and my beloved grandsons ages almost 1 and just turned 5.  Toby has been a member of the CGGNA since its inception back in 2003 when we formed in order to challenge the proposed development of the high-density residential project on Gilbert Street.  Since her retirement from the State of California, Toby has been an active volunteer in various civic activities, including the Garden Grove Police Department at this time.  I would also like to introduce Maureen Blackmun, Toby’s next door neighbor, as our newest Board member.  I am thrilled with their ideas and enthusiasm and know that you will appreciate the new energy that they will bring to the CGGNA.  It is their wish to place more of a focus on the needs of the residents and work on improving our Central Garden Grove neighborhoods.  Their ideas are endless and boundless and I am so excited about perhaps a bit of a shift in tone with their leadership.

They love our city a lot, so get ready!

Please note that this newsletter is being mailed to everyone on our CGGNA membership list (rather than e-mailing it).  This is because we wish to evaluate the status of this list and also urge members/former members to actively join the CGGNA.  Toby and Maureen, and the rest of the Board, hope to establish committees to address the various specific needs of Central Garden Grove, and we would like to request that those of you who have not already done so, to send in your membership dues.  The cost of membership is a modest $12.00 per year per person, which covers the costs of paper, ink and postage as well as the costs associated with our Annual Meeting and any other special association meetings throughout the year.  Also, this is an opportunity for the membership to contact Toby with any name or address corrections that you may notice.  I am happy to help with the printing of the newsletters and envelopes, and in any other ways that I can, in the future.  Please contact Toby, whose phone number and e-mail address are noted below, with any changes or corrections, or you may mail your corrections or comments to our address noted at the top of this newsletter.

It has been both an honor and a pleasure being involved with this extremely successful and worthwhile organization for all of these years.

Sincerely,

Cheryl Armstrong
Outgoing President
