Our
Central Garden Grove Neighborhood
Association will host our annual
neighborhood meeting,
Saturday,
July14th 10am till
noon, at 12421Loraleen Street in the Armstrong Backyard. Cggna will be
providing updated information on issues in our area. Enjoy a
hotdog and conversation with other concerned citizens and meet our
elected representatives. Please bring a chair and a
friend. (There will be a table for
members’ businesses cards and information.)
- State Assemblyman Van Tran
will give us an update on statewide matters
- City Councilmember Mark
Rosen will give us a local update on the proposed Super
Wal-Mart, the possibility of creating separate city council districts
and changing from a General Law to a Charter Law city.
- Garden Grove Police
Representative will provide a report on the effect of the
increased enforcement for illegal fireworks usage on July 4th and new
city citations with fines of up to $1,000. for violators.
Thursday, July 19th, Public
Meeting, 7:00pm, 11300 Stanford Avenue, in our Community Meeting
Center, for public comments to the draft environmental impact report
for the proposed SuperWalmart. The public input will be taken
into consideration for the final EIR, Environmental Impact Report, is
prepared by the developer. The report provides information and possible
mitigation measures to reduce significant impacts to our area.

The proponent, SuperWalmart, will have 45 days to review and submit the
final environmental impact report before there will be scheduled public
hearings for both the Planning Commission and City Council later this
summer or early fall.
The SuperWalmart is proposed to be 173,150 sqft, two stories, first
story for parking. The store plans to sell groceries, alcohol, and
retail merchandise. The plan includes selling firearms and ammunition,
pharmacy, arcade, garden center, outside sale facilities and an eye
care center.
Friday, July 20th, judicial
decision for the Garden Grove Downtown Business Association, 9:00 am,
700 Civic Center Drive West, Santa Ana, courtroom C28 of the Orange
County Superior Court. A judge will review the case and hear both sides
before deciding how to resolve replacement of parking for the
businesses and whether proper procedures were followed by the city
which approved the Sheldon 100 condominium project.
Water Rate Increase Changed:
40% first year, 20% second, 7.5% third, 5% fourth, and 5% fifth and
final year. The third and fourth years are reduced to comply with State
Proposition 218, notification requirements.
