Our Central Garden Grove Neighborhood
Association will host our ONCE A YEAR MEETING on Saturday, July12th,
from 10 a.m. until noon at 12421Loraleen Street in the Armstrong
backyard. The CGGNA will be providing updated information on issues in
our area. Enjoy a delicious lunch and conversation with other
concerned citizens and meet our elected representatives. Please
bring a chair and a friend. (There will be a table for local
businesses members where they can provide information.)
• State Senator Lou Correa, Assemblyman Van
Tran and Assemblyman Jose Solorio will give us an update on
statewide matters.
• Orange County Supervisor Janet Nguyen
will update us on county issues.
• City Councilmember Mark Rosen will
give us a local update on the General Plan Update, the recent statewide
passage of Proposition 99 (eminent domain), and our city’s balanced
budget.
• Lieutenant Fowler of the Garden Grove
Police Department will report the effects of increased
enforcement of laws against illegal fireworks usage on the Fourth of
July with city citations and fines of up to $1,000.00.
Brookhurst
Triangle Open House - Monday, June 30th from 5 to 8:00 p.m. at
11300 Stanford Avenue, in our Community Meeting Center. The
developer, JPI, will present the current plans for the 14-acre site
including a mixture of some commercial space on the corner with the
majority planned for 720 housing units. Your input is important during

Orange County Supervisor Janet
Nguyen was re-elected in the June election and to fill the mid-term
vacancy Sheriff Sandra Hutchens was appointed as County Sheriff.
Update
for General Plan. Planning Commission will hear public
comments on July 17th at 7:00 p.m. at the Community Meeting Center. The
General Plan “blueprint” sets the citywide land use plans for the next
twenty years. The draft General Plan report is available for review at
the local libraries, at City Hall, and online at http://www.gardengrovefuture.info.

use changes are set to begin next month. First, you may not use
hands on cell phones while driving or risk a fine. See http://www.dmv.ca.gov/cellularphonelaws/index.htm
for more details. Second, you will need to dial 1-714 before in order
to complete local calls. This change is mandatory beginning August
23rd. All local calls will remain local, but you will have to dial
1-714 prior to dialing the local number.
We encourage interested and
involved residents to join our association board. We want to hear
your views for how to maintain and improve our neighborhood. Please
come to our meeting Saturday, July 12th and talk to one of our board
