Dear Neighbor,
Vote! Tuesday, June 3rd, you choose our
Orange County Supervisor and Judges and decide between two eminent
domain initiatives. It is important to research both propositions
98 and 99 because of their impacts to statewide land use. Examine who
is opposing and supporting both eminent domain propositions.
Exercise your right to Vote!!!
Trash
rate increase passed, with no vote from City Council. The rate
increase is tied to the Consumer Price Index, CPI, estimated to be
3.92% (74 cents) with the maximum of 5% (91 cents) in a single year
till the year 2014. The city circulated the public notice which met the
minimum legal requirements. However, the public notice failed to
mention that 19,000 signed letters of protest (emails not accepted) are
required to curtail the increase due to a recent Supreme Court decision
which deems trash as a “property related fee.”
Update
for General Plan. An Open House was held last Thursday at
the Community Meeting Center. Many of our residents and business owners
attended. The General Plan “blueprint” sets the citywide land use plans
for the next twenty years. The stated goals are to maintain our
existing residential neighborhoods, increase our parks from less than 1
acre per 1,000 residents to 2 acres as well as permit mixed use zoning
for retail and housing uses along our major streets. The draft General
Plan report is available for review at the local libraries, at City
Hall, and online http://www.gardengrovefuture.info

thoughts and suggestions for the proposed plans for our city.
