Dear Member,
At the recent City Council meeting our four elected City Council
Members, (appointed Councilmember Jones recused himself from the vote
as advised by counsel), denied the request to rezone to smaller lots
for 9792 Stanford, thereby enforcing our existing 15,000 square feet
lot size. We appreciate the City Council’s decision to maintain the
integrity and unique character of our neighborhood.
We would like to thank all of you who wrote letters, attended the
meeting and spoke at the public hearing. There were many
residents who spoke eloquently and passionately in favor of preserving
our existing zoning laws.
The City of Garden Grove invites you to attend the Annual Police
Memorial Service, Thursday, May 17th, 5:00 to 6:00pm 11301 Acacia
Parkway, to Honor the five Garden Grove Police Officers who have been
killed in the line of duty. Call Sgt. Joe Gallardo at 741-5814 for
questions.
Water Rate Increase proposed: Public Hearing set for Tuesday, May 29th,
6:30pm at Community Meeting Center 11300 Stanford Avenue. The average
residential bill is for $24 per month and would increase to $36
per month, representing a 50% increase. The increase includes an
automatic annual increase of 5% annually. The reasons sited are aging
infrastructure, increased new regulations imposed by State and Federal
agencies, and higher costs for fuel, labor, construction and materials
as well as the additional costs for imported water. Please attend
to give your input.
The Central Garden Grove Neighborhood Association is planning our
annual neighborhood meeting. Cggna will be providing updated
information on issues in our area. Enjoy a hotdog and
conversation. The meeting is set for Saturday, July 14th, 10am
till noon, at 12421 Loraleen Street in the Armstrong Backyard.
City Councilmember Mark Rosen will give us an update on the proposed
Super Wal-Mart, the possibility of creating separate city council
districts and changing from a General Law to a Charter Law city.
We plan to have a Police Representative give us a report on the effect
of the increased enforcement for illegal fireworks usage on July 4th
and new city citations with fines of up to $500. for violators.
Please bring a chair.
Thoughtfully,
Robin Marcario, Chair
